Our second blog for a bright and breezy October 2015 highlights Mascol as not just the South’s number one for event services, but also being trusted as a premier events coordinator.

Mascol cater for a diverse range of events and organisations; notable is our input with the Arundel and Brighton Diocese, assisting with all aspects of their prestigious Festival 50 event.

This was the largest Catholic event in Britain since the visit of Pope Benedict XV1, held at our very own AMEX Community Stadium.

Festival 50 was an opportunity not just for the Diocese to celebrate its Golden Jubilee, but also for Bishop Richard to meet the people of his new Diocese, following his installation as the new Bishop on 28 May this year.

The line-up of speakers included: Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O’Connor, former Bishop of the Diocese, Dr Rowan Williams, former Archbishop of Canterbury and Fr Timothy Radcliffe OP, former Master General of the Dominican Order as well as Claire Dixon from CAFOD and Bishop Dan Turley from the sister Diocese of Chulucanas in Peru.

The Arundel & Brighton Diocese brought together generations of people who had been involved in the life of the Diocese over the last 50 years – the finale was a Mass for all in the Stadium Bowl.

Circa 11,000 people attended the event and Mascol were responsible for providing the sound system and microphones for musicians, church and school choirs and then the Mass at the end of the day, which took place in the main bowl throughout the day.

A specialist company were commissioned to build a stage that spanned the stadium seating at one end of the stadium – and also held and alter and area for Mass, together with school choirs and camera operators.

In excess of 34 mic’s were hooked up – a bespoke side stage was instated for the organ which was brought in and played throughout the day. We erected a truss structure at the rear of stage, in order for backdrops to hang behind the altar.

Two stadium broadcast cameras were utilised to follow the day’s proceedings, together with a roaming camera operator who ensured all areas of the stadium and its activities were captured on the day.

In addition we kitted out 9 ‘ante rooms’ + a band stand on the Stadium Concourse. Equipment and crew ranged from Plasma Screens with DVD player, to full stage sound, stage lighting and projection for a theatre production, who delivered plays throughout the day + a full band set-up on the bandstand to allow bands and local choirs to perform.
